Thank you to our parents for complying to our request for you not to gather/have close contact with other parents around the school grounds or when walking home. It is especially important during a time of national lockdown that we all make that extra effort to keep our whole community safe. We politely request that you wear a face covering inside the school grounds unless you are exempt.
It has been reported that some families have held large street gatherings, particularly last night with groups of 20+ around bonfires. We have also seen children from different families playing together in the streets outside school at night. There is no point us trying to keep our children in separate bubbles, as the government guidance states we have to, if children are compromising this rule by playing together outside of school. This is against all government guidance and is unacceptable.
A few reminders:
Children are encouraged to wear warm clothes for school. We have to keep rooms well ventilated but we don’t want your children to feel cold at school as the winter approaches. Extra layers under their school uniform are a sensible idea.
Children must stay by their parents side when entering or exiting school as we have seen children playing with others who are not in their class bubble.
Children must not be allowed to run around the car park.
Remember – only ONE parent on site to pick up your child from school.
Thank you to the vast majority of our families who are following the rules- you are brilliant and we really appreciate your support.
Any families that need support regarding domestic abuse – please dial 999 if you are in immediate danger. Remember that Harbour will support you – call 03000 20 25 25 (24 hours) or email info@my harbour.org.uk
Normal Remembrance services will not be able to take place this Sunday. The council will be sharing an online service, including a series of artwork from our school on Sunday. See NT Council website. We will send details via the school Twitter account and share the amazing work done by our pupils next week – @whitehouseps- please download the app and follow our school feed.
Children in Need
National Children in Need Day is on Friday 13th November. The theme is ‘Together We Can Change Young Lives.’ We will always support families in need, but do not insist upon this. However, children may wear anything with spots on or Children in Need clothes on that date. They do not need to wear uniform. Any donations to support this cause would be welcomed.
Anti Bullying Week
On Monday 16th November, it is the start of national Anti Bullying Week. We will be doing a series of lessons in school around kindness, with strong anti bullying messages. Children are encouraged to wear ODD SOCKS on Monday 16th November.
Flu Vaccinations in School
The date for the flu vaccinations for Reception to Year 6 is Wednesday November 18th.
That History Bloke
Following the successful visit of the Wilderness School and their exciting workshops around the Stone Age, we are delighted to have ‘That History Bloke’ coming to visit Y2 next Thursday 12th November to bring to life teachings about the Great Fire of Newcastle and Gateshead. No trips are permitted at the present, so we know that these exciting lessons will bring History to life. Wrap up in warm clothes!
Have a lovely weekend everyone- keep safe and keep smiling!
