Dear Y6 Leaver,

I know how much we all look forward to our end of term celebrations of your time at Whitehouse and I am really sad that we can’t do this in the same way this year. In the thirteen years that I’ve been Headteacher at Whitehouse, I’ve never experienced anything like this

and I am so proud of the way you have all coped. I’ve known most of you since you were little and started in our Nursery, with Miss Eager, and watched you grow up into the amazing young adults that you have all become.

Moving to High School is often an anxious time for any pupil, but you must not worry. All the high schools have been working so hard to make sure that you feel welcome and safe as soon as you set foot in their buildings from September. As soon as you start, any worries will disappear, and you will be excited by the new opportunities you will have and the new friendships you will make.

I am sorry that we couldn’t have the end of year picnic that we had promised you. We have had to follow the guidance sent to us from the Public Health Team which did not allow outdoor gatherings of more than 6 people at a time, to keep everyone safe. We have always celebrated Leavers achievements here and said goodbye properly to our pupils and their families. We know that some of you have returned to school and that others have continued with your home learning and it would have been so good to see you all together as a Whitehouse Team before you leave. So, instead, we have arranged to have one to one meetings with you- and to share a bumper bag of leaving gifts- including certificates, Leavers t shirts, Whitehouse mugs and pens and………. the Year 6 Leavers video on a personalised school flash drive! This has been made by a professional film maker, as we wanted you to take something away that you can treasure and share with your families.

You may not be leaving us in the way we wanted you to, but you must all go out into the world, taking our love and best wishes for your futures. Remember our Whitehouse motto- ‘Believe in Yourself’ and always aim to be the best you can be!

With love and best wishes for your futures from all the staff @Team Whitehouse!
